Innerbloom Medical is veteran-owned and operated. Dr. Andrew Zabel is an Army veteran and a board-certified Emergency Medicine physician — someone who has spent a career in rooms where the stakes are immediate, and who built this clinic to be the opposite of that environment.
Why this clinic is different for veterans
Plenty of clinics treat veterans. Fewer are run by one. That matters less as a credential than as a starting assumption: you should not have to explain what a deployment was, why you do not sleep, or why you flinch at a question about your service before anyone gets to your symptoms.
- Veteran-owned and operated. Not a marketing line — the person who founded the practice served.
- A physician who works in high-acuity settings. Dr. Zabel is board-certified in Emergency Medicine. He conducts your intake, sets your plan, and personally monitors your first infusion; later infusions are monitored by nurses trained in critical care and emergency medicine, with him available for consultation.
- Priority intake scheduling for veterans and first responders.
- Private treatment rooms in Old Town Scottsdale, not a shared infusion floor.
What we offer
Two distinct treatments, and the right one depends on your diagnosis, history, and insurance situation — not on which one we would rather provide.
- Spravato (esketamine) — FDA-approved for treatment-resistant depression in adults, given in our REMS-certified setting. Most plans require prior authorization and coverage varies.
- IV ketamine for PTSD — used off-label for PTSD and depression, paid out of pocket. See pricing.
Medication is one part of it. Many patients also work with a therapist — see our therapy partners.
Where VA benefits stand
Being straight about this matters more than making it sound good:
- Innerbloom Medical is in the process of applying to the VA Community Care Network. The application is not approved, and we cannot say whether or when it will be.
- Until then, we cannot accept VA-referred care or bill the VA.
- IV ketamine for depression is not currently VA-covered.
- Whether Spravato is available to you through the VA itself depends on your eligibility and your VA facility — your VA care team can answer that.
Veterans are welcome to schedule a free intake in the meantime. It costs nothing, and you will get an honest assessment of whether treatment here makes sense for you — including if the answer is that it does not.

Can I get ketamine or Spravato through the VA instead?↓
That depends on your eligibility and your VA facility, and it is a question for your VA care team rather than for us. Availability differs between facilities.
Do veterans and first responders get priority scheduling?↓
Yes. Veterans and first responders receive priority intake scheduling at Innerbloom.
Do I need a PTSD diagnosis to be seen?↓
No. Many patients come in with a trauma history, sub-threshold symptoms, or a prior diagnosis. Dr. Zabel conducts his own clinical evaluation during the intake and makes recommendations based on your current presentation.
Is ketamine safe alongside medications I get from the VA?↓
Ketamine can be administered alongside many commonly prescribed medications, but some require evaluation or adjustment. Bring a complete list of everything you take, including anything prescribed elsewhere, and it will be reviewed during your intake.
